Adult Basic Education

The North Georgia Technical College Adult Education Department serves the needs of residents of Fannin, Franklin, Habersham, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties who are interested in basic reading, basic mathematics, preparation for the General Educational Development (GED ® ) test, English Language/Civics and English as a Second Language (ESL), and ASSET and Compass Test preparation. Instruction is offered at no charge. Instructional programs are self-paced for individual students and instruction is provided by qualified caring instructors.

The program is designed to give special attention to adults returning to school to resume educational programs which were interrupted in earlier years. Adult learners can be found here refreshing reading, writing, and math skills to re-enter the job market after a layoff; preparing for the GED ® Tests to qualify for a job or credit program that requires a high school diploma to graduate, learning English as their second language, or just working toward a personal educational goal. All instructional materials are available for student use at no cost.
